The GAPS Introduction Diet Stage Six
Oh my goodness, was my sleep bad last night! I didn’t get off to sleep until about 5am and by then I had resigned myself to not actually getting any. I’ve had that happen to me before with chronic insomnia.
When I have a bad patch of insomnia, at best I manage about 2-3 hours of sleep, but more often than not I go through the night with none at all. I kept getting anxiety all night which made me physically tense. Then, when I go past a certain time with no sleep, panic sets in. I then get more anxious at the fact that I’m not sleeping which, of course, stops me sleeping. Thus starting a vicious cycle!
My lovely husband spent hours in the kitchen getting meals, making stock and soup, thus allowing me to rest all day, which really helped.
I am relieved to say I had a really good night’s sleep last night and feel much better today.
I’m a bit more bloated and tired today. I can’t work out if it’s because I still need to catch up on sleep, increasing the probiotic pills or perhaps not digesting the pancakes very well. Or the fact that I had a little more vegetable juice this morning.
It always feels with this diet like taking two steps forward and one back (or is that one step forward and two back?) !
Finally some relief from the constipation! Since starting the castor oil capsules at the beginning of the week I’ve see some improvement. Therefore, I will continue taking the capsules.
All in all a bit of a roller coaster week with my sleep and how I’m feeling physically. It’s so much harder to stick to the diet when we’re short on sleep.
